The charming port of Kyrenia

To me it’s sad to see a country divided, because of politicians. However, Cyprus is a wonderful travel destination – in some ways two countries in one – Greece and Turkey.

I had read about the wild donkeys of Cyprus and I drove out to the north eastern part of the island hoping to see these intriguing animals.

St Nicholas Cathedral - Lala Moustapha Mosque

In the north the cathedrals have been converted into mosques, with minimum alterations. It was good to see that these mosques still keep the original cathedral’s name as well as the new mosque name. In other countries the churches and cathedrals have been bulldozed down and new mosques built.

Lefkara is a quaint village in southern Cyprus and is best known for its lace, which is very intricate.
