Wurzburg was the beginning of our journey along the Romantic Road in Germany. Running from the the Main River to the Alps, it is Germany’s best known and most popular tourist route.
Wurzburg’s main attractions include the Marienberg fortress, the university, the old town area and the former Prince Bishop’s residence. Surprisingly this building is the only UNESCO World Heritage site along the 385 kilometres of the Romantic Road.
I will be posting more of the Romantic Road in the next few days.
